CHAIN 1 : HomesickOriginal Poem:  Homesick

Do not let them see you blink,  Mother said, so I am careful to turn  away when my eyes dry out. My grip  on the brush is clumsy. Colours speck  and dazzle, slop like foam on rocks;  
the teacher dabs their brilliance  from my flaking arms. Children whisper   
behind starfish hands; they go to play  in the bright, hot yard but I stay in,  as Mother told me. Below the window  there’s a tank of golden fish that circle,  circle, following their own reflections.

Laat ze nooit je tranen zien.  Zo zei mijn moeder, daarom ben ik zo bezorgd.  Weglopen tijdens het drogen van mijn ogen,  ik ben een dwaas met benen,  
lichtgevend, net als de oppervlakte van een rots.  
De leraar neemt het licht uit mijn lege handen,  kinderen fluisteren.   
Achter de armen van een zeester  spelen ze in de warme en zonnige tuin.  Maar ik blijf hier, zoals mijn moeder zei.  
Onder het raam staat een aquarium.  
Goudvissen zwemmen heen en weer.  Hun eigen weerspiegeling volgend,

Someone Up There Got Mad, or Something

Hi all.

My apologies for this project stalling as it has.

The reasons are several and are as follows:

1/ I found it really hard to chase people up for translations over the Holiday period.

2/ My old hard drive died, and with it all my lists.

3/ Personal considerations have meant I have not had the time or energy to get back in and fix the breaks in the chains with no lists etc.

4/ I am doing a bajillion other things, which have also needed my attention.

BUT - I should be able to get this underway again, a bit late. Needless to say I will NOT be running this project over the Holidays again. = P

I am also looking for permanent staff. This is hard work, and requires dedication and time. But it's also very rewarding. The ability to be organised and post news articles, etc, plus fluency in English is required.

I am very sad this seems to have died completely. I was looking forward to getting a little language practice in. I hope the club will get back on its feet again.

I sent a note asking to join the chain, but I never got a reply. I can do French and English and my Spanish isn't flawless, but it's alright.
